Kennedy Center
Culture Connect Website
The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts and The U.S. Department of State Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs recently joined forces to develop a cultural exchange program featuring a variety of artists from all over the world. These artists traveled to the United States, were guests of The Kennedy Center, and were taken on a whirlwind tour of their performing art in major U.S. cities. The visits were documented in the hopes of educating U.S. performing arts students on their art forms in other countries.
Building a website that communicates the scope of each of the visits, maximizes the human element, is educational, and is cool enough to keep fickle teenagers clicking and reading is a lofty task, but one that Planit embraced because of the challenge.
The decision was made early on to keep the website experiential, using a representative from each visit as navigation. Each profile featured an itinerary of their visit with video clips, photos, and write-ups of each of their stops, and even an article written about them during their stay.
The design was hand drawn and even the sounds were organically created at Planit. Every piece was custom created including the media players, navigation and iconography.
